“Reducing the CO2 footprint and supply chain risk in the manufacturing sector”
The Task
Power Testing Ltd was awarded a contract to upgrade the low voltage network that supplied Britvic’s engineering workshop in Chelmsford, Essex. The project required replacing three existing transformers and building a new substation to house them. We also needed to relocate a fourth transformer.
One of the more unusual requirements was the specification and build of a blast wall for the substation to protect an adjacent glass-fronted building. Project managing several subcontractors, we delivered the project on time and within budget, earning us HV preferred supplier status with the client.
Client Feedback
Reducing our CO2 footprint and reducing supply chain risk were the two main forces behind the decision to replace our HV transformers and associated LV & HV cables. Power Testing Ltd offered a full solution to the project including supply, installation, and commissioning as well as project planning and management including all civils works.
Power Testing showed great flexibility and understanding of our requirements to complete the project both on time and on budget without affecting business-as-usual at a particularly busy production period for us. As a result, Power Testing are now our preferred supplier for all major electrical replacement/upgrade work.
We have also taken advantage of the comprehensive LV & HV maintenance programme to give us further reassurance and further reducing supply chain risk.
